A Life of Service, Resilience, and Family
Born to Ester, a dedicated reporter whose career often took her away from home, Don learned independence early. Despite contracting Tuberculosis in his youth, he showed remarkable resilience and made a full recovery.
While the world was at war, Don served at home with the LADWP. As a "hydrogopher," he spent seasons in the solitude of Mt. Whitney, measuring the snow pack that fueled the city below, all while raising his family in Independence, California.
His later years saw a move to City Terrace and San Gabriel, where he transitioned into urban planning for the City of Los Angeles, eventually dedicating his retirement years to the next generation as a substitute public school teacher.
