This srmi-bacanal Holloween costume party was held in the "play-room" addition to the Dighera family Inglewood home in the late '40s. The "star" performers are a couple known as Tex and Gill who. Gill was a general contractor with whom George sub-contracted to wire his new homes.

Although difficult to discern in the dim lighting, the full bar, with mirrored back-bar that featured ocean reef scene with an octopus with an arm surrounding a clear bubble through which movies were projected on a screen against the far wall. You can see one of the slot-machines on the bar top.

This video reveals the activity typical of the annual Caloia gatherings. Estelle and Mike hosted an Easter picnic for decades in Turtle Rock Park, Irvine, California. Pictured here are Victoria and Roger Conway, Heather Ross, and is that Malissa's husband in the background?
Leo continued to record family events with a video camera in the '80s. As a consequence these later videos are considerably better quality. The virtually unlimited record time in excess of two hours in place of the three minute limit of 16 mm film meant long takes were possible, and editing in post was magic (at the time). Gone was the expense of roll of 16 mm color film, and associated cost of film processing. The innovation of a zoom lens gave the vidographer more freedom of expression.

The September 20, 1986 family gathering at John's Elsinore ranch was apparently in celebration of the Dighera's fiftieth wedding anniversary. The origin of the Caloia nicknames is chronicled at Leo's direction. Unlike Leo's earlier 16 mm Kodachrome work, this later video was apparently shot with a video camera.
